Contura was established in March 2000 as a spin-off of Ferrosan A/S, a Danish consumer healthcare and medical devices company founded in 1920.
In 2001 Aquamid® injectable implants were CE-marked for soft tissue facial augmentation and corrections. The CE-marking was extended in 2003 to soft tissue corrections of the body.
Contura is at the cutting edge of the medical implant sector for both aesthetic and corrective injection therapy.
In 2002 Contura became a fully-owned subsidiary of the Danish company Idosan A/S.
In July 2003 Bulkamid® urethral bulking agent was CE-marked for treating stress urinary incontinence in women.
In June 2006 Contura obtained ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 9001:2000 certificates.
